About The Conference

Conference Begins In

The Explore CRC Puerto Rico Conference will take place in Fall 2019 to prepare female students to get them involved in computing research careers by having research experiences during the summer(REU/Internships). Undergraduate research experiences have been proven to be effective in increasing communication skills, increased retention, development of technical skills, and teamwork. In particular, these experiences are stronger for women in computing who normally lack role models.

We propose to run a Co-located Caribbean Celebration of Women in Computing (CCWiC) together with Explore CRC Puerto Rico. CCWiC promotes diversity with efforts that address the decline of women who choose computing related professions. It also offers opportunities for mentoring, networking, and technical/career development to women in computing. The first CCWIC in 2014 attracted over 200 women from all around the island, and the second one impacted 110.
